I spent a year in the delightful city of Erzurum, working with colleagues in Turkish Red Crescent to retrofit the disaster warehouse to ensure it would survive an earthquake, and strengthen emergency response systems.
This is a stunning part of the world and a combination of work and curiosity took me all over the eastern part of Turkey.
