The ICRC’s training materials on Economic Security (EcoSec: basically livelihoods) are actually materials that apply Results Based Management approaches to humanitarian practice, and as such they are useful way beyond the fairly narrow technical area suggested by the title.
They included three modules: emergency needs assessment, project design, and monitoring and evaluation.
The research and review project involved field work with the Pakistan, Kenya and Somali delegations, and a range of participatory information gathering techniques, and looked both at the materials themselves, the ways in which they are applied and supported, and their strategic fit within ICRC’s broader learning and development framework.
